Brian P. Bilbray
2001 Hall of Fame for Public Service at Mar Vista High in 1970
Bilbray personifies the ideal of American democracy. As a concerned student and citizen, he saw that one person, starting in his own community, can truly make a difference. From city councilman, to mayor of his hometown, county supervisor, and ultimately to the halls of Congress for three productive terms, Bilbray defined public services.

Charlie Jackson
2001 Hall of Fame for Business at Mar Vista High in 1967
Founded a Macintosh software publishing company. Silicon Beach Software was a pioneer in producing graphics editors for the Macintosh computer. A private investor in more than a dozen startup companies, including Outpost.com, Wired Ventures, and Streamload.com., a San Diego startup.

International track star and Olympic gold medalist.

Harlan Skinner
2001 Hall of Fame for Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award at Sweetwater High in 1929
Committed 67 years of his life to Sweetwater District youth as a music educator pioneer. Graduating from Sweetwater High Mr. Skinner started teaching for the district in 1934 and retired in 1977. He continued to work as a consultant until his second retirement in June 2001. Established the Sweetwater District Orchestra and was one of the founders of the May Time Band Review.

Jess E. Van Deventer
2001 Hall of Fame for Community Service at Sweetwater High in 1957
A drag racer who raced a B-modified roadster nationwide and was never beaten in his class. He held National speed and elapsed time records from 1960-1963. In 1961 his car was voted as the National Best Engineered Car. He served for 15 years on the National City Council and National City Redevelopment Agency. Was appointed to the San Diego Unified Port Commission and was Chair of the Commission.

Past Chairman of the Board, Grossmont Bank, Member of Board of Directors, Jack in the Box, President and Chief Executive Officer of Multi-Ventures, Inc., a real estate investment and management company, whose properties include the San Diego Mission Valley Hilton Hotel and the Red Lion Hanalei Hotel.

2001 Hall of Fame for Military Service at Sweetwater High in 1948
Retired U.S. Air Force Major General- appointed by President Reagan to be Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, International Security Affairs, Near East/South Asia.

Michael J. Ellis
2001 Hall of Fame for Community Service at Bonita Vista High in 1971
Co-founder of Metabolife International, Inc. After his father was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Ellis went to work, reading everything he could about his father's illness and about promising therapies. His search and determination to improve his father's steadily deteriorating quality of life led him to the world of natural medicine. The formula is known today as dietary supplement Metabolife 356.

RADM Eleanor C. Connie Mariano, USN (Ret)
2001 Hall of Fame for Military Service at Mar Vista High in 1973
Her twenty years of service to the nation are highlighted by her selection as the first military woman to be a White House Physician, the first woman to direct the White House Medical Unit, her appointment as Physiician to the President, and most notably, her distinction as the first Filipino American admiral in the history of the U.S. Navy.

Robert Bob Carlton Wilson
2001 Hall of Fame for Public Service at Sweetwater High in 1933
Was San Diegos outstanding young man in 1950. Elected to U.S. congress in 1952. Served in S.D. county with areas distincition until his retirement. In congress he became the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee.

Serge Dedina, Ph.D.
2001 Hall of Fame for Academia at Mar Vista High in 1982
Co-founder and director of wildcoast an international conservation team dedicated to marine protection and education. Former founding director of the Nature Conservancy's Baja California Program and a former Geography Professor at the University of Arizona. Developed two national parks along Baja's Sea of Cortez coastline and initiated an international campaign.

2001 Hall of Fame for Athletics at Castle Park High in 1970
Earned starting position on Undefeated National Championship team in 1972 and defeated Ohio. State in Rose Bowl game 1993. Selected by the Minnesota Vikings 1st round in 1974 draft. Played a Super Bowl IX and X1

Timothy J. Muris, J.D.
2001 Hall of Fame for Academia at Chula Vista High in 1967
Has served in the Administration of four presidents of the United States. Has also served as a Foundation Professor and Interim Dean of the Law School at George Mason University School of Law. Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission.

Tom Waits
2001 Hall of Fame for Arts at Hilltop High in 1968
Has been recognized by many as one of America's greatest solowriters. As a musician he has recorded and released over 15 albums. One of which won him a grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 1992. Won an academy award nomination for the soundtrack to the movie One from the Heart in 1982.
